Consignment/Brokerage Process

Selling a boat on your own can be very challenging.  Placing ads, responding to leads and taking potential buyers on demo rides costs you time and money.  One of the easiest ways to sell your boat is a consignment through Valley Marine.  Valley Marine has a proven process and a 99% success rate.  The following is a description of what you do when you consign your boat with Valley Marine.

The first step in a consignment is a conversation with one of Valley Marine’s sales consultants.  This initial conversation will allow us to establish if your boat is a good fit for a consignment.  We will need to know the year, make and model of your boat.  We will also want to know the motor package and additional options.  Once we obtain all of this information we will be able to blue book your boat and research market comparisons.  We will suggest a selling price and let you know what you will net on the boat.

Once we come to an agreement we will schedule your boat for a used boat evaluation with our service department ($385).  The used boat evaluation is a 35 point inspection and covers engine compression & cylinder leak down, all factory equipped features, safety features and overall condition of the boat.  When the boat has a clean bill of health we will move it to the detail department.

Our detail department will perform a light detail on the boat as a part of the consignment.  We will do both an interior and exterior clean to optimize the listing.  If your boat requires more attention a full detail may be requested.

The next step is the actual listing.  We will take 15-20 pictures of your boat as well as a video walk around.  We will upload the pictures and video to our website.  The boat will automatically be listed on boattrader.com, boats.com and iboats.com.  Our sales department will also place your boat on Craigslist in strategic markets.

When potential buyers show interest in your boat we will take them out for demo rides.  We will also facilitate financing through credit unions and banks.  We even take care of all licensing and title transfers.  At this point the only thing for you do to is pick up the check.
